How to Do Nothing

“Life is all about balance. You don’t always need to be getting stuff done. Sometimes it’s perfectly okay, and absolutely necessary, to shut down, kick back, and do nothing.” Lori Deschene

Practice Point: Cat

A variation of cat (marjariasana) or cat-cow is found in many styles of yoga, and the basis of many other asanas.

It is one of the most accessible postures; you can practise it from an all-fours position on the floor, kneeling, sitting on the floor or in a chair, or from a standing semi-squat.

Cat mobilises our spine, stretching the front and the back of the torso, and massages the abdominal organs. If you spend long hours sitting at a desk, driving or for any other reason, try Cat as a way to relieve stiffness in the back.
